2.91 (English)

2.91. This was the price of gas yesterday when I went to fill up my car. The tank was almost empty and I had to fill it up again.
That's the way it is with our cars - we drive them until we've used almost all the gas, then we go to the gas station to fill them up again. We wouldn't think of putting more gas in when we've only used a gallon; on the contrary, we wait until we've used almost the whole tank before we put more gas in.
But when Paul tells us to be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18) it's different - he means we should stay filled with the Spirit. We think we use all we have during the week and then return on empty to church on Sunday to be filled again. But Paul means we should live filled with the Spirit, being continually filled, like a pond that is continually refreshed by the spring that feeds it.
In that way we'll be able to be used continually by God in the Spirit and refreshed at the same time, like the lampstand in the tabernacle that burned night and day. Aaron and his sons trimmed the lamps morning and evening. In the same way, we should tend our lamps (spirits) morning and evening to be always filled.
Zechariah had a vision in which he saw a solid gold lampstand with a bowl at the top and seven lights on it, with seven channels to the lights. There were two olive trees by it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left. (Zechariah 2: 3 + 4)
This tells us there is a continual supply of the Spirit for us that will never run out. May we be the people that receive this and live in the Spirit.
