Mission:Paraguay, Day 2

We all slept comfortably in Dan's house, which has 6 bedrooms and enough bathrooms. This morning we worked at La Viña. The ladies sanded recently painted walls and the guys worked up on the roof of the house to build the right wall of the church.
(The church was originally a house, and the new church is being built around the house; when the church is finished, the house will be torn down.)
There has been some work done on the church since we were here last year. In the front of the church there are now two bathrooms instead of just the one, and there is another bathroom in the back of the church. They also did some prep work for us to begin working on the right wall this year.
Today, we tossed bricks up to the roof, then the masons got to work putting down 4 rows of bricks today to build the right wall. The picture (is Here) is of Ward and Darwin working in close quarters.
For lunch we finally made it to our favorite restaurant, the Brazilian steakhouse, which is a favorite of all Asuncion.
This morning in our prayer time God moved incredibly by His Spirit. We feel He is pouring out His love for this nation. Deep moves of the Spirit like this don't just happen; it's because there are people praying, and we thank everyone who is praying for this trip. We feel that this trip more than the others will accomplish God's purposes in raising up strong leaders for La Vina to take their place in the body of Christ and move this country on His behalf.
There is such apathy and corruption here; these people have no hope for a future because the country is so impoverished and the corruption is so extensive. The Gospel is the hope of this nation, and La Viña will have a part in what God wants to do here.
We are walking in the words that we received before we left from Pat Johnson, Julie Collins, Paul Farish, and others. We are believing for Isaiah 61, that the Spirit of the Lord will be upon us to preach good news to the afflicted and to lift up the brokenhearted.
We are working on the church during the day and meeting with church leaders from La Viña at night. Our theme this trip is "character." Last night we focused on "Let your yes be 'yes' and your no 'no.'" Tonight Ward will speak on "Being satisfied in the Lord."
Instead of hiring a van service as in prior years, we are renting a Nissan SUV; along with Dan Miller's van, that is our transportation. Alejandro is driving the Nissan, and he is well able to negotiate traffic in Asuncion. If you thought Charlotte traffic was bad, you haven't seen anything yet. The rule at an intersection is that the biggest vehicle gets to go through first; it's pretty hairy. But Ale is a master at this.
Tomorrow evening, after working at La Viña, we travel 2 hours to camp at Carapegua, where we will spend 4 days with people from La Vina and people from Dan Miller's church.
More tomorrow.
